The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Darren John HUNNIFORD (Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales) and James KIRBY (London, England).

On Monday the 22nd of December 2003 we went to sea very early again... the sea was calmer than yesterday, and again a strong SEerly wind started blowing later in the morning... We observed five different White Sharks today... among which a Shark with a Satellite Transmitter attached to her dorsal fin again... Very nice day!
On Tuesday the 23rd of December 2003, we left to sea early again (before the low spring tide prevents us from leaving the little harbour of Kleinbaai)... Beautiful and hot morning! The wind picked up in the early afternoon, and the sea turned choppy quickly... We observed six different Great White Sharks today - Great day! The Sharks were swimming around but were not really interested in the bait though...
Although December is in the middle of summer in South Africa, we have had our fare share of winter storms this month... and another storm hit our coastline yesterday, just in time for Christmas... a bit of northern hemisphere Xmas ambiance and weather I guess! Tracey cooked a delicious Christmas meal as we enjoyed sitting inside with a warm fire blazing in the fireplace while the rain was pouring down...
