The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Michelle RAYBURN from Calgary (Canada), Leonard PACE from Brooklyn (New York, USA), TJ BARANEK from Pewaukee (Wisconsin, USA) and Emilio VALENTINO from Bussigny (Switzerland).

Thursday the 26th of June 2003... another great day with 10 different sharks!

Michelle, Emilio and Tom were invited by Dyer Island Cruises to join them in the morning to hopefully observe some Whales... This is the Whale Watching company... but it is a bit early in the Whale season, and they unfortunately did not observe any... next time!

We welcomed back Tom Peschak who is writing a book about the marine world of southern Africa "Currents of Contrast".

Some of the sharks nearly slapped him in the face with their tails as they came very close to the boat...

We will hopefully be able to present some of the photographs Tom has taken over the past few weeks soon...

Friday the 27th of June 2003... a great day weatherwise... but the sharks just did not cooperate with the science today as most of the 9 sharks we observed that morning did not want to show us their dorsal fin... which is obviously not good when you use that part of their body to identify the sharks...
It seems like Tom's Land Rover has found a new "wanna-be-owner" in TJ who fell in love with this great vehicle... TJ was heard saying that if he had this behicle, he would live, sleep, work, eat, etc. in this new TJ world...

Michael had to go to Cape Town in the afternoon for business... TJ and Emilio joined him for the excursion.
