The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Late during the night of Thursday the 22nd to Friday the 23rd of May 2003, a lightning storm hit our coastline... The sky remained mainly clear as the storm passed on either sides of Gansbaai, with a fantastic and rare (for this area) display of lightings...
On Friday the 23rd of May, the weather was great, but the sea picked up and large (2-4 meter) long waves were rolling in the bay... there was no wind though and we managed to go to sea... Great day! We observed 14 different White Sharks today, and some of these sharks remained around the boat for quite a long time...
Our third shark of today remained over one hour around Lamnidae, the White Shark Trust research boat... he was very relaxed and each time he came close to the bait, the shark pushed his head clear out of the water. It was a wonderful encounter and we all had ample time to admire this shark!
