The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Darren John HUNNIFORD (Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales), Chris MILNES (Grantham, Lincolnshire, England), Adam Nicholas SANDERSON (Ashby de-la Zouch, Leicestershire, England), Emma Louise BARKER (Beckenham, Kent, England) and Helen Clare JOHNSTON (Grassendale, Liverpool, England).

Friday the 9th of January 2004 turned out to be another grey day... where is the African summer?

We welcomed back Tom Peschak on board Lamnidae - with some apparent White Shark withdrawal symptoms... Tom has finished his book Currents of Contrast which should be available in November this year!

Today, we observed 5 different White Sharks during the first two hours, and then suddenly quite... dead quite... no more Sharks for three hours. Weird!

Chris sported the t-shirt he designed about the Field Research Assistantship (FRA) program... Great design and t-shirt!

On the way back to Kleinbaai, we encountered some Dolphins again... with at least five baby dolphins! Amazing how lucky we have been during the past few weeks with Dolphins. We rarely observe them in this area... Thinking about changing our organisation's name to Dolphin and White Shark Trust... Lots of dorsal fin to be identified!

Saturday the 10th of January 2004 was a flat sea day, but also a very slow Shark day... We only observed two different White Sharks today. But we really cannot complain since we have been spoiled during the past months...

Later that afternoon, we went to Dyer Island and Geyser Rock to look at the Cape Fur Seal colony in Shark Alley... always a great excursion!

We present below some more photographs taken by Darren...
