The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Benjamin WESTROPE (Wilmington, North Carolina, USA), Jennifer LEE (Arcadia, California, USA) and Christopher POOLE (Nottingham, England).

Following a small storm, we managed to go to sea again on Sunday the 11th of April 2004 on board Lamnidae. Very nice day even though the swell was quite impressive at times. We only observed four different White Sharks, but they remained around the boat for quite a while, and were very active. We then took a drive along the shore to try and spot some Sharks and Dolphins, but we weren't lucky today...
On Monday the 12th of April 2004, we welcomed Andy B. Casagrande (ABC4) back on Lamnidae for the day along with one of his best friends from Italy (well probably his only friend from Italy) Salvatore.

We observed 10 different White Sharks today... Andy was filming the Sharks and the daily activities for a little video production for our assistants... Andy is indeed still in Gansbaai after more than six months. He is now volunteering for a small local filming company who produces souvenirs videos for the tourists who come cage dive.

Overcast at first, the sky cleared up with the strong SEasterly wind in the afternoon.

The following underwater photographs were taken by Michael Scholl using a Nikon F90x camera and a 28mm 1:2.8 lense in an Ikelite housing. These pictures were taken from the back of Lamnidae on the 11th, 12th and 13th of April 2004.
