Michael and Tracey Scholl are overseas during the month of June 2004, and our fieldwork will take place on board Barracuda. In collaboration with Shark Diving Unlimited, our June assistants, Benjamin WESTROPE (Wilmington, North Carolina, USA) and Alex RILEY (Nottingham, England), will continue collecting research information and photo identification on board Barracuda.

We are very thankful to Michael Rutzen, owner of Shark Diving Unlimited, for welcoming our assistants and supporting the White Shark Trust for our fieldwork during June 2004.

On the 3rd of June 2004, Michael and Tracey flew to Switzerland to spend some time with Michael's family. On our way to Geneva, we stopped in London for two days where we met up with two of our old assistants: James Kirby and Chris Milnes. We had a great time doing the touristy stuff in London and seing some old friends!
Michael and Tracey spent the month of June with Michael's family, mostly at Michael's home in St-Legier, near Vevey / Montreux on Lake Leman, and one week in Corsica. We had a wonderful time during the month of June... Living so far away from your family is hard, and we enjoyed every moment of this special month...
My brother Dominique rented a wonderful house in Corsica in Lumiu in the Balagne region. As we did in Switzerland, we went on excursions everyday in the region, usually ending up cooling off in the Mediterranean at some point. Corsica is a beautiful and wild island, with very friendly people...
Snorkeling was fantastic in Corsica, and even Tracey ventured herself into the turquoise, warm and crystal clear water. Michael went diving with L'Hippocampe, a diving center in Calvi, on an American B17 which sea-landed just off the Citadelle of Calvi (see below) during the second world war. Great dive!
Usually I do not agree with the old saying "All good things have an end", but here and now, I would have to agree... On the 1st of July, we had to return to South Africa, leaving behind Michael's parents and his brother's family. On the way back, we had a couple of hours in London where Chris Milnes joined us for a few beers in the airport pub...
