The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Timo SECKLER (Ellenberg, Germany), Graham HORTON (Milton Keynes, England) and Greg WRIGHT (Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA)

On the 1st of August 2005, we welcomed Mario LEBRATO CAMBLOR from Sama Langreo, Asturias in Spain, studying oceanography in Southampton.

Andy Brandy CASAGRANDE IV is living in Fishoek on the shores of False Bay where he is assisting Alison KOCK (South African Museum / Save Our Seas) with her research project at Seal Island for the next few months.

Chris MILNES (Grantham, Lincolnshire, England), one of our old assistants from 2003 and 2004, has also come back to visit and is also volunteering for the White Shark Trust as a friend and guest.

Our friend Trey SNOW (Wilmington, North Carolina, USA) returned as a guest on the 18th of July to Gansbaai and the White Shark Trust following a couple of months of travelling through Africa from Cape Town to Nairobi in Kenya.

On Monday 1st of August 2005 (Swiss National Day), we launched Lamnidae to a investigate an area away from Dyer Island, but we did not observe any Sharks unfortunately... Another storm hit us around noon and we were forced to go back to shore... Disappointing first day for Mario, but it was nice to be back on Lamnidae again!
On Wednesday the 3rd of August, we were invited by Shark Diving Unlimited to board their cage diving boat Barracuda... We observed six different White Sharks. The three meter swell was quite impressive, and certainly to big for Lamnidae unfortunately. Crazy Shark 'Springer' visited us in his usual multiple breaching manner...
Finally... Thursday the 4th of August, we launched Lamnidae again... Osvaldo Ballabio joined us for a few days to film our research work. We observed three different White Sharks today, and one Shark stayed around our boat for well over an hour. Very nice day indeed! Just nice to be out on Lamnidae again also!
