The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:

Edward FARRELL (Dublin, Ireland) and Barney DUNLOP (Bath, England)

Timo SECKLER (Ellenberg, Germany) has been our assistant since the 15th of July 2005. He assisted with the manual telemetry tracking of White Sharks in Mossel Bay during the month of August.

Andy Brandy CASAGRANDE IV has been our assistant, guest and especially friend since September 2003, and he has been living in Gansbaai and assisting the White Shark Trust during most of 2004 and now again in 2005.

On Sunday the 11th of December 2005, our assistants were in no shape to go to sea following a night they will never forget... or allowed to forget! The best description for Andy, Timo and Barney is GFs.

The sea conditions were not great anyway with strong winds creating a choppy ocean. I drove Sarah to Hermanus early on Sunday morning to catch the Bazz Bus travelling along the Garden Route.

On Tuesday the 13th of December, we launched Lamnidae in the early morning... We spotted seven different White Sharks along our shore transect, and a little further along the Haibaai shore, we spotted a pod of Humpback Dolphins. They were probably hunting schools of small fish...

We observed seven different White Sharks today... The Sharks were not very curious nor did they spend much time around the boat. The strong southeasterly wind started blowing in the morning... Fortunately, our sixth Shark was very curious and a lot of fun! She certainly made our day!
