|My time in South Africa was the most wonderful and unique experience ever. The chance to see Great Whites up close and personal was a dream come true, not to mention the friendships I made and the sights I saw.
Working with the sharks meant that I didnt need an alarm clock, although some mornings a little nudge helped, but the idea of going out daily to play with possibly the most feared predator woke me up early. When I was on Lamnidae the first time the excitement I felt when the first shark came to the bait was a feeling Ill never forget. More exhilarating than that day was the first time I was on the bait line and the shark got a hold of the bait and I got to feel the awesome power when it tore the line out of my hand and was able to pull the boat too!!!
The sights and wildlife was remarkable, when Mike and I were driving to the nearby town of Hermanus and saw baboons crossing the street I knew I wasnt in New York anymore. Beyond the time with the sharks I was able to enjoy a tour of the country with my roommates, and there is nothing like bungi jumping from the worlds highest bungi. During my trip I went to a game reserve and saw four of the big five and was able to visit the surf mecca Jeffreys Bay.
